In his remarks, the Chairperson of UPP USU Prof. Dr. Dwi Suryanto, M.Sc said that this OBE approach may not be new to some study programs at USU, but this activity must be carried out so that all study programs have the same perception and can review whether the curriculum in each study program is appropriate and actually applies OBE. The curriculum prepared based on the OBE approach will also be very helpful if the Study Program wants to prepare for international accreditation.
In line with the remarks of the Chairperson of UPP USU, USU Vice Chancellor I Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.Hum also said in his direction when opening this activity, that this FGD must be carried out for various adjustments that must be made immediately in order to accelerate curriculum deconstruction. The curriculum deconstruction in question must use the OBE platform to be in line and relevant to accreditation both at the national and international levels. On the same occasion, Vice Rector I announced 5 study programs that won grants from the Ministry of Education and Culture, namely Agribusiness, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He expressed his hope for the 5 study programs to become role models and become examples for other study programs in curriculum deconstruction. To stimulate other study programs in accelerating curriculum preparation, USU will stimulate by holding curriculum competitions and grants for collaborative classes. In his direction, WR I also appreciated the quick response made by Prof. Dwi and the newly appointed USU UPP team in facilitating activities towards curriculum deconstruction.
For this activity, UPP USU presented Dr. Ir. Sri Peni Watuningsih from Gajah Mada University as well as the Curriculum Team and the Belmawa MBKM Socialization Team as speakers who delivered material on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach in implementing MBKM. She explained that in general, OBE is actually the alignment of learning outcomes, learning processes with assessment and evaluation. In his discussion, he used the term curriculum relaxation to describe that the curriculum to be compiled must be flexible and adaptive. The flexible curriculum should also be supported by a system that is compatible with MBKM programs in order to facilitate and facilitate all parties in implementing MBKM programs. He also shared his experience about the steps that UGM has taken in implementing MBKM.
FGD activities for Science Study Programs will be followed up by UPP USU which will provide intensive assistance to all study programs at the University of North Sumatra to ensure that each study program implements OBE in the preparation of the MBKM curriculum. It is hoped that all study programs at USU can complete the MBKM curriculum so that in the upcoming odd semester all study programs can run the MBKM curriculum in the upcoming odd semester.
